Communications Associate
Brazilian-born and raised in the world, Alanna Sousa (she/her) embraces diversity as a personal value. Committed to change-making and dedicated to elevating the voices of those who are left voiceless by social inequalities, for over 15 years, Alanna has been working with humanitarian causes, with&within underprivileged communities, in Brazil and other countries around the globe. Since 2019, she's incorporated art into career, presenting her work through photography and videography.
She connects with spirituality through Umbanda and Xamanism, a personal journey that guides her activism toward the importance of preserving the environment and Indigenous Peoples' lives and rights. Alanna Yara Sousa is an artist, activist, and storyteller currently serving URI as Communications Associate.
