Email from Mussie Hailu: Dear Friends, Greetings of peace and blessing from the United Nations Head Quarter in New York. Hope this email finds you and your family well. I am so happy to inform you that after the event in SF at Circle of light, the Multi Region meeting and meeting at the hub office I came to the United Nations on the Golden Rule mission and happy to inform you that my mission on Golden Rule at the UN went very well. The purpose of this mission was to follow up on the request we made to the United Nations to proclaim the Golden Rule Day, to promote more the Golden Rule at the UN and appeal to the UN to use the teaching of the Golden Rule as a practical way to promote a culture of peace, interfaith harmony and co-existence among nations. IPI is going to get soon an affiliation with UN DPI which help more to bring forward the proposal of the Golden Rule Day. As you recall the proclamation of the Golden Rule Day was made by Interfaith Peace-building Initiative (IPI) a United Religions Initiative (URI) Cooperation Circle in Ethiopia which I have the pleasure of serving as Board Chairman. We also proclaim April 5th as Golden Rule Day as this was the day we make the proclamation of the Golden Rule and started the first Goodwill Ambassador of the Golden Rule program in Ethiopia. Golden Rule CC is working in partnership with IPI in promoting the teaching of the Golden Rule throughout the world. I met with the number of UN officials and gave them the Proclamation and the Poster of the Golden Rule. I had a very interesting and inspiring meeting with Mariaa-Luisa Chavez, Chief of NGO Relations at the United Nations Department of Public Information and her staff. I presented to her the Golden Rule Poster and came to agreement to organize a meeting on the Golden Rule at the UN as part of the UN faith serious meeting. We also discussed on the possibilities of Africa hosting the next year UN DPI/NGO Annual conference. This is for the first time that Africa is going to host the DPI/NGO Annual Conference. I also met with the Mr. Stein Villumstad, deputy Secretary General of Religions for Peace and discussed about the UN Decade of Inter religious and Intercultural Dialogue, Understating and Cooperation for peace and the Golden Rule.
I had also a very interesting meeting with the Sharon from NGO Committee on Spirituality Values and Global Concern and Deborah and Monica from URI UN on the possibilities of organizing event on Golden Rule Day at the UN.On this day we are also going to present the Golden Rule Medal. More news to follow on this as we progress toward the event. Many organizations also join us in proclaiming the Golden Rule Day among which are North American Interfaith Network, African Diaspora Foundation, Assocation of World Citizens, United Nations Association of San Francisco, San Francisco Interfaith Council. More to come. I would like to take this opportunity and kindly ask all our CC to celebrate this day as this is Wait bring us together regardless of our differences. There will be peace and harmony on the Earth if we, Citizens of the world, live according to the Golden Rule.
