Voices for a World Free of Nuclear Weapons CC | Multi-Region
On the 65th anniversary of the bombing of Nagasaki, a global coalition of diplomats, scientists, scholars, clergy, and activists, including former U.S. Secretary of State George P. Shultz, Stanford physicist, arms control expert Dr. Sidney D. Drell and Jonathan Granoff, President of the Global Security Institute, began laying the groundwork for a global movement to eliminate nuclear weapons. “The abolition of nuclear weapons is much more than one nation’s or one religion’s problem,” they wrote. “It is a life issue, a civilization issue that requires a worldwide response by all who are morally alert and spiritually compassionate.” Their new CC, Voices for a World Free of Nuclear Weapons, will spend the next year developing a structure and strategy and generating support for their initiative. It will be publicly launched next fall, on the 66th anniversary of the bombing. Stay tuned.
