URI mourns the loss of Richard Goldman, a devoted environmentalist, philanthropist and URI supporter who died on November at the age of 90. Mr. Goldman was an honorary member of URI’s President’s Council, and shared deeply its cause. His vision and generosity from the earliest days helped URI grow from the seed of an idea into a robust international organization that is bridging the religious divide in communities all over the world. URI founder and president, Rt. Rev. William E. Swing, called Mr. Goldman “my mentor and my hero,” remembering Mr. Goldman ’s words of encouragement when he first told him about his idea, and his years of promoting URI to his friends and colleagues thereafter.
