BETHAK-CC, Khanewal celebrated world Human Rights Day with youth in collaboration with APP-CC Multan on 10th December 2010. After the recitation of holy Books, Mr. Shahzad Francis of BETHAK briefed the audience with the basic HR in the light of the articles of UN-HR charter. Some questions were asked and further explanation of the articles satisfied the audience. Mr. Shahzad Francis expressed that our rights stands for our needs which are to be met as a special regards to our human nature. These rights if they are provided in a prudent way, to every individual it would promote peace, harmony and a spirit of trust in the society. The Blasphemy law is contradictory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of which Pakistan is a signatory, Laws are framed to protect citizens, and not to persecute them. But the Blasphemy law is used against non-Muslims to make a false accusation against an individual that faces grave consequences said Mr. Shahzad.
Ms. Uzma Anthony has urged the youth to strengthen peace and democracy and resist violation of human rights to make Pakistan a peaceful and prosperous country. She added Let us on this day also spare a thought to the deprived section of the society whose human rights are most endangered and pledge to extricate them from want and deprivation.
Ms. Saiqa Irshad, spoke about the plight of women must be given preference in the field of education so that they may be able to get more information about their vested rights as a respectable citizen of the society. She further demanded that minority students must not be treated as inferior to majority students in schools and the teachers must give them due attention as an equal citizen of Pakistan.
The youth presented different items regarding safe guard of human rights and the necessity of peace in Pakistan.
The meeting ended with a prayer for peace and harmony among the people of Pakistan.
