Dearest and Most Precious URI Family: GREETINGS OF PEACE AND LIGHT
It gives me great joy to write you this note. It is difficult to believe that we are in the midst of celebrating these Holy Days again. MAY YOUR HOLIDAYS BE SHOWERED WITH DIVINE INSPIRATION, LOVE AND EVER NEW JOY.
In a few days, we will be starting another year 2011, at least in the Western world. Words cannot express the profound gratitude for your contributions to peace. Every one of you, may times, with great personal sacrifices has made a difference in someone’s life. No matter how big or small your actions are, it takes us closer to fulfilling our URI vision that is embodied in the following words: LET THERE BE PEACE ON EARTH AND LET IT BEGIN WITH ME.
As you know, peace is needed now more than ever. I wonder, however, how in this new year we will manifest the invitation and continue to work to fulfill our vision. I have come to realize from a deep core of my being, that we can dialogue about peace and have activities to get to know one another. Yes, that is important and will give us some results, however in my opinion, sustainable peace will require that URI embrace a conviction that responding to ending religiously motivated violence also involves addressing issues of inequity, poverty and neglect. MAY WE GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH. Thank you for the privilege of service.
I'd like to end with this beautiful poem:

Querida preciosa Familia de URI:
Es para mí un gran gozo escribirles esta nota. Es difícil creer que estamos en medio de la celebración de estas Sagradas alrededor del mundo. RECIBA BENDICIONES, UNA LLUVIA DE INSPIRACION DIVINA, AMOR Y GOZO
En unos días, empezaremos otro año de 2011, por lo menos, en el mundo occidental. Las palabras no pueden expresar la profunda gratitud por sus contribuciones a la paz. Cada uno de ustedes, muchas veces, con grandes sacrificios personales han hecho una diferencia en la vida de alguien. No importa cuán grande o pequeña sean sus acciones, que bien nos acerca al cumplimiento de nuestra visión URI que se encarna en las palabras siguientes: HÁGASE LA PAZ EN LA TIERRA Y QUE COMIENCE CONMIGO. Como ustedes saben, la paz es ahora más necesaria que nunca. Me pregunto, sin embargo, cómo este nuevo año como se manifestará la invitación para seguir trabajando para cumplir nuestra visión. Me he dado cuenta de un núcleo profundo de mi ser, que podemos dialogar sobre la paz y las actividades que llegar a conocerse unos a otros. Sí, eso es importante y nos dará algunos resultados, sin embargo, en mi opinión, para lograr la paz sostenible, será necesario que URI abrazar la convicción que responder a poner fin a la violencia por motivos religiosos, también implica abordar las cuestiones de inequidad, la pobreza y el abandono. QUE SIGAMOS TENIENDO FORTALEZA. Gracias por el privilegio de servicio.
