A people’s forum on promoting a culture of peace on workplaces was conducted by BETHAK in collaboration with Christian Study Centre at Khanewal. More than 150 participants from different places of Khanewal attended the forum. Mr. Shahzad Francis project coordinator BETHAK introduced in brief about different activities conducted for promotion of peace among communities in Khanewal region. Mr. Francis Jacob director BETHAK explained the difficulties that hindered the progress of bringing the communities closer to one other as a united nation. He stressed upon the need of getting out of the fear of non-acceptance and selfish attitude of living in loneliness of their own net shells. Mr. Aamir Hussiani an activist explained in detail that society has become the victim of their own non-tolerance. He stressed upon all the participants and especially the female to play a responsible and positive role on their work places as person of integrity and people of the same society and get rid of discriminative attitude on the bases of religion, gender and social status.
Mr. Hussaini further said that the history, traditions, songs, and beliefs of a people, and their language itself, are integral parts of a society's identity. Mr. A.Nadeem, Mr. Shahzad Francis, Rao.Naushad Ali, Malik Kamran, David Qamar, Mrs. Khalida, Mr.Najma, and Ms, Sehrish Sabir also stressed upon that building a culture of peace on workplaces is only possible to by understanding of the principles of and respect for freedom, justice, democracy, human rights, tolerance, equality and solidarity. It implies a collective rejection of violence. It also implies the means and will to take part in the development of society.
During the people’s forum Peace singer of BEHAK Yaqoob Sahotra, Marcus Bilo, and Babar Lahori entertained the audience with peace songs.
