Pakistan Council for Social Welfare & Human Rights (PCSW&HR) organized one day Stakeholders Orientation Conference on “Environmental Education to Save the Earth” with the collaboration of United Religions Initiatives (URI) under the Seed grant earth action project of URI at Rawalakot (Poonch District)AJ&K. The all stakeholders of this project in which Local Government, CBOS/NGOs, Line departments etc participated. The purpose of this conference was to orientate the stakeholders of this project regarding the contents of this project initiated by Pakistan Council for Social Welfare & Human Rights with the collaboration of United Religions Initiatives (URI) and to define the role of each stakeholder to protect our environment to save our earth at their end. Chairman PCSW&HR Muhammad Ijaz Noori conducted the orientation conference and briefed the participants regarding the project and all its contents. He said that main purpose of this project is to build the capacity of 450 women and 300 community activists (master trainers) on environmental education covering the components affecting the environment like pollution, acid rain, climate changes, the destruction of rainforests and other wild habitats, the decline and extinction of thousands of species of animals and plants and so on and promote the forests in the selected area of District Poonch. During the orientation conference the role of each stakeholder was defined, the Additional Deputy Commissioner General Rawalakot (additional administrative chief of District Poonch) on behalf of District Administration assured his full support and cooperation to accomplish this project as per MOU singed between the Pakistan Council for Social Welfare & Human Rights and Government of AJ&K. he also ensured for necessary coordination between district Government and implementation team of PCSW&HR. The District Forest Officers Mr. Sardar Rafique and Mr. Khalid Mehmood those were representing the Forest Department Government of AJ&K comprehensively brief the conference participants about the different aspect of the environmental pollutions and its hazardous on public health and also highlighted the different ways to clean our environment. Forest department will also provide the trainings to the women and master trainers with the collaboration of PCSW&HR implementation team and also ensured their full cooperation and technical support in tree plantation and their after care. At the end of conference all participants unanimously resolved that the protection of our environment will be our collective commitment to save the future of our children from the hazardous climate change and environmental issues.
