In the spirit of Ramadan, the month of mercy and goodness, ten members from URI-MENA in Jordan traveled to a remote area around Ajloun in Jordan to offer support for impoverished families there.
Ajloun is the capital town of the Ajloun Governorate. A hilly town in the north of Jordan, located 76 kilometers (around 47 miles) north west of Amman, it is noted for its impressive ruins such as the 12th century castle, known as Ajloun Castle. The population of more than 130,000 is spread over 27 villages and towns.
Villages around Ajloun are poor, and the people there struggle to make ends meet, with few available sources of income. Many are illiterate or poorly educated, and many households are headed by women. There are also many orphans and households with sick or elderly people.
With support from the URI-MENA office, the URI group distributed 30 food packages, which included rice, sugar, tea, milk, and more, to poor families in the villages.
