Suchetana Cooperation Circle in the Eastern region of India observed the International Day of Peace by organizing a remarkable program with the Leprosy Mission International and Church of North India (CNI) on the 21st September in Bankura District Town.
The day started with a peace walk from the central church where students from vocational training center, local schools along with the children from interfaith education center and leaders from various faith communities participated. The walk end at the very significant place Bill Edgar memorial vocational training center (BEMVTC) run by the Leprosy mission, followed by an interfaith meeting where discussion on promoting interfaith activities for sustaining peace in the local communities went on deeper level. Meantime students were engaged in a quiz program and some had participated in Sit & Draw program. Renowned speakers and dignitaries from various levels input their ideas. Honorable Chairpersons of district council and Bankura Municipality visited the program. Principal Mr. Angshuman Biswas of the center deliver his speech on how to provide a better solution to the students for a bright and sustainable future. I had the privilege to introduce URI and its regional activities to the gathering. At the end awards were given to the students along with a certificate of participation. Rev. Amiya Das presented a fantastic dance program by the students of interfaith center where most of them come from a very impoverish community. Mind blowing performance by the students need no introduction. Ektaan will certainly provide an international platform to these children to uplift their work through URI. The congregation brought Muslims Hindus, Christians, Tribal together to be shining and shining till we sustain peace.
