ALERT 3: Trustee Selection 2011-2012

28 October 2011

Dear CC Contact Persons,

This is an amazing time.  All around the world, people like you and me are making their voices heard and striving to change things for the better.  It is the kind of movement that is at the heart of URI and that we have been part of for over a decade. Everyday, our global grassroots interfaith network cultivates peace and justice by engaging people to bridge religious and cultural differences and work together for the good of our communities and the world.  The Trustees of URI help to support these efforts and provide leadership globally on the Global Council, regionally as part of the Regional Team, and locally as part of their Cooperation Circle.

Selecting our best leaders is critical to ensure URI's growth in sustainability and impact. Please take the time to visit www.uri.org/trusteeselection to read about the Trustee Selection process and the proposed amendments to the URI Bylaws.  Share this information with all the members of your CC, and encourage your CC to be an active participant in this process.  These sites are also available in Spanish and Portugese.

When you meet as a CC during the next couple of months, discuss the Trustee Selection Process and your CC’s responsibilities.  Then, decide if your CC is eligible to vote, supports the proposed changes to the URI Bylaws and if you want to nominate a candidate.  Plan to complete and submit the three forms before December 30, 2011.

In the coming weeks, I will send reminders along with some ways to help you participate more easily.  Your Regional Coordinators will also be in touch to offer assistance.  If your CC needs a hard copy of the material, be sure to let your coordinator know. I will send direct links to download the PDF materials, and I will also send text-only versions of the forms to help you submit your decisions by email without needing to print or scan the three forms.  For now, I would like you to use the website and focus on all that is available there.

Thank you for your time and consideration of this message. Let me know that you have read all the way through by clicking here.

Sincerely,

Mark Mancao
