Applications are due TODAY, June 5, for the second round of the URI Environmental Satellite CC’s Environmental Seed Grants program to support Cooperation Circles in creating “cultures of peace, justice, and healing for the Earth and all living beings.”
Four types of grants will be given:
Community Eco-Dialogue Grants ($100–$200 (US)
Interfaith Eco-Learning Grants ($250–$750 (US)
Eco-Interfaith Action Project Grants ($500–$1,500 (US)
Earth Actions Support Program Grants ($1,000–$2,000 (US)
Again this year, the Seed Grants will place emphasis on supporting activities that address climate change, either in reducing the causes of climate change or adapting to its effects, and on activities that preserve the diversity and abundance of life on Earth. Along these lines, now that easily accessed fossil fuels have been largely depleted and current mining methods increasingly endanger the natural environment and human well being (e.g., deep-sea drilling for oil, strip mining of low-grade tar sands, hydrofracturing of natural gas, and mountaintop removal of coal), proposals that emphasize energy conservation and the use of renewable energy are especially invited.
