The net arrived in the U.K. as part of the “Where’s The Net? Campaign. Launched by the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, the campaign aims to connect people of different faiths in an effort to help end malaria, a disease which kills a child every minute.
Having already covered thousands of miles with visits to key landmarks, including the White House (U.S.A), and Niagara Falls (U.S.A./Canada), this well-travelled mosquito net arrived at Huddersfield’s Sita Rama Hindu Temple on Wednesday, May 30, where members of various faith communities gathered to receive it.
“We welcomed the spirit of the malaria net, which exemplifies the huge difference a simple net can make to under privileged people in the world,” said Bali, who serves on URI’s Young Leaders Program Steering Committee and on the URI Europe Executive Committee. “As faith communities, we unite to uphold the values of compassion and justice to end suffering from malaria.”
