The “Culture of Peace” event is intended to help the young people at Kampala’s Stand Tall Education Centre learn ways to use their talents to express peace in their communities. The event will include a children’s competition and an interactive online discussion about peace featuring youth activists from 21 countries.
The event will take place at 9 a.m. on Sept. 21, the International Day of Peace, at the Stand Tall Education Centre in Kampala. In addition to the Bavubuka Foundation, co-sponsors of the event include the Emerging Futures Youth Network, and the Readmylips Live multi-media platform.
The “Culture of Peace” event will be held in conjunction with the International Day of Peace, an annual event celebrated by the United Nations and people throughout the world as a day of global ceasefire and nonviolence.
The theme of this year’s Peace Day – celebrated everywhere on Sept. 21 – is “Sustainable Peace for a Sustainable Future,” in keeping with the recent United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
