City Councilor Rabin Baldewsingh presented the award to Bart ten Broek and fellow volunteer Yadin Karabulut at a special ceremony Dec. 16. Both recipients were nominated for the award by AASRA, a women’s social and cultural organization based in the Hague, whose members wanted to recognize the positive contributions each has made to the local community.
Bart has served as chair and treasurer of the Stichting Interreligieus Beraad Segbroek(Interreligious Council of Segbroek), a URI Cooperation Circle dedicated to enhancing peaceful coexistence within the multicultural, multireligious neighborhoods of The Hague.
Created in 1994, the City Pin of the Hague honors volunteers who have served the community at the district or neighborhood level for at least 10 years.
