URI Global Council Chair Kiran Bali discussed the role of women as peacemakers in an address to the International Association for Religious Freedom.
In her address, Kiran considered women as both peacemakers and survivors. She reflected on the example of a mother who had survived both cancer and the trauma of a horrific rape to show how women had triumphed over adversity.
“For many of us, our faith is the spine of our survival,” Kiran said.
Kiran also answered questions from the audience during the May 18 presentation at the Unitarian Church in the London borough of Croydon.
The International Association for Religious Freedom’s United Kingdom chapter is an organization working to promote mutual respect among all religions.
