Elisabeth Lheure, a Trustee of URI’s Global Council, led the two-day workshop from May 10 to 11 at the Technische Universität Dresden (Dresden University of Technology. The intensive, eight-hour training event was organized by the Bahá'í Students Association and co-hosted by the UNESCO Association for Interreligious Dialogue CC (AUDIR).
The workshop provided its participants with information on what to consider when meeting and working with people from different religious backgrounds. Elisabeth, a member of the URI Europe Executive Committee since 2006, is an experienced mediator who has used interfaith dialogue to prevent and resolve interreligious conflicts in Barcelona, Spain.
The 14 participants – including Baha'is, Catholics, Humanists, Muslims and Protestants – included many university students, half of whom were studying to become teachers.
Fellow Global Council Trustee Marianne Horling helped facilitate communication between the German- and English-speaking participants. She also explained URI’s purpose and vision, and encouraged those who had completed the program to consider forming a Cooperation Circle.
