Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
This year, 2013, the International Day of Peace is on a Saturday, September 21st, and special activities and celebrations will take place all across the world over the 2013 Peace Day Weekend, including festivals, concerts, a global Peace Wave with moments of silence at noon in every time zone, and much more.
The Global March for Peace and Unity; United Religions Initiative, Trail of Dreams CC’s Footprints Around the World 4 Peace; and Pathways to Peace are partnering to enhance humanity's capacity to:
- Connect with the grassroots citizens of the world;
- Organize a nonviolent world march for peace & unity on the International Day of Peace, September 21, 2013;
- Create a collective experience of peace.
Global March for Peace & Unity is a grassroots people’s movement. Co-Chair Roxy Rafraf says," We want to move you to move others so they can move others and so on…to “WALK THE TALK” for peace & unity on September 21, 2013 - the UN International Day of Peace. Peace has been talked about for centuries and now that we live in a time where we can connect globally via social media, we the people have this historic opportunity to come together and “WALK THE TALK” for peace & unity."
