URI acknowledges the remarkable life and contribution of Mary Page Sims. Mary Page Welborn Sims entered into eternal rest on May 25, 2014, as a result of complications from cancer. Mary Page attended URI planning meetings at Stanford University in the late nineties and brought her bright smile and powerful conviction to URI’s nascent vision. At one gathering, Mary Page shared a dream from her childhood where she witnessed people of different religions of the world together laughing and talking. She said she kept that dream alive in her heart throughout her adult years and kept asking herself why it couldn’t be true. She smiled brightly that day as she proclaimed that in URI she had found a place where this dream could come true! Mary Page was a founding member of one of the first Cooperation Circles of URI, the United Religions Initiative (URI) of Henderson County, where she served for 12 years as convener. Mary Page contributed wisdom and creativity to foster greater dialogue between faith communities People create ripples in their lifetime.
