In Uganda, five very active Cooperation Circles held a series of events to united their communities for peace.
Acholi Religious Leaders Peace Initiative (ARLPI) members joined the national celebrations in Adjumani District of Northern Uganda, while Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue Programs (ITERDIP) organized a panel discussion. They walked from the Hindu temple at Nakivubo accompanied by a band with a special performance. The guest of honor was the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda; participants assembled on Sunday at a nearby Hindu temple to commence the day’s activities.
Action For Fundamental Change And Development (AFFCAD) attended a conference organized by UNICEF in Nsambya that discussed youth and peace building. Restoring and Empowering Communities UGANDA (REC) launched the “Learning to Live Together Program” in 30 schools for roughly 250 classrooms for both primary and secondary school students.
Faiths Together Uganda organized a peace drum launch. The event brought together 100 policemen and women to sound the drums for one hour. This event also involved other custodians of peace in the country who played a key role in the preparations for launching the event countrywide. The event happened along the road in Mukono District.
