To build friendships across faith lines, Ur for Interfaith Dialogue & Peacemaking CC in Karbala, Iraq, celebrated International Day of Peace by organizing a party for schoolchildren under the theme “Our children, our future.”
The kids, mostly refugees, were from Mosul in Baghdad, while some were orphans from the area. Ur organized games and art projects; later, we distributed school bags and other schools materials needed for them.
The refugees were forced to leave their homes after it their region had been taken by ISIS. They now live in schools in Baghdad. In total, about 40 children from various religions and ethnic backgrounds were in attendance.
