On March 31st, 2015, URI youth ambassador and URI Africa Administration officer Annirene Nyambura Mundia visited the Kilelengwani school. The school bridges two warring tribes (the Pokomo and the Orma), clashes between which left about 90 adults dead in 2012 and resulted in many children being orphaned. Through a program by Arigatou International called "Learning To Live Together", the teachers have become facilitators of alternative interventions towards peace, both with the children and the community. "We must not give away the children of this Nation to the tribalism monster," Annirene says. "We owe them a better legacy."
