Greetings of peace from India. This is the second installment of our “Voice of the Month” campaign to understand the challenges that our Cooperation Circles face in the community. Every month we interview a CC to speak about what they find to be the most critical issue to address as an all-time challenge.
This month we have a voice from Rainbow Cooperation Circle from Panchmura, West Bengal, India.
We face difficulties in reaching everyone in our locality and engaging them in deeper conversation to bring better understanding to interfaith work, simply because our work is very developmental. Most of the time it is hard for uninvolved people to see what we do as a peace builder. We find it difficult to draw larger attention due to lack of special outreach programs. That can be addressed or resolved by hosting more local cluster interfaith meetings or conferences. If URI as an international organization can help us to host local assemblies, we are sure that a lot of resourceful individuals will come forward to support us. Even that can pave a pathway for young people to take lead roles in peace-building work. It is good that we get the chance to attend national and international assemblies, which gives us strength to work at a local level. So if we wish, we can also allow local people to participate in such a gathering to share and learn, which means local assemblies can fulfill that dream.
