In celebration of International Dance Day on April 29, we present a photo submitted by Liam Chinn. These two bright young peacebuilders are members of Faiths Together Uganda, a Cooperation Circle that uses song and dance to bring members of different cultures and religions together, and to pass on the message of religious harmony. As the Great Lakes Regional Assembly (held in Kampala, Uganda) came to a close, Faiths Together put on a magnificent performance led by youth musicians and dancers - including the two drummers pictured here.
Faiths Together Uganda is actively working to heal fragile communal relations in the face of recent ethnic and religious violence, and the resulting polarization, that swept their country and region. Their main programs include interfaith and intercultural clubs on school campuses, as well as organizing an intercultural performance troupe. Faiths Together Uganda has helped many of their youth participants forge strong relationships across cultural and religious lines through collaborative action and dialogue.
