The holy day of Buddha Purnima (also known as Vesak, Vaisakha, Wesak, and Buddha Day) celebrates the birth, enlightenment and the passing away of Gautama Buddha. It always falls on a full moon (Purnima meaning “full moon day” in Sanskrit).

Honoring the holiday, Hope in Life Foundation, a Multi-Region Cooperation Circle in California, USA, held a peace prayer ceremony followed by a simple dinner. The kosher, vegetarian meal included bhog/prasad (traditional blessed food) for everyone at the Mandir Hindu temple in Irvine, California.

According to Hope in Life CC, “It's always good to feel and be part of a community. Community service is humbling and rewarding at the same time.”
