The United Religions Initiative for Latin America & the Caribbean invites singers and songwriters globally to participate in the first-ever Facundo Cabral “A Song for Peace” International Festival. The contest aims to promote dialogue for human rights and mutual respect, as well as URI’s mission of interfaith cooperation for cultures of peace, justice, and healing. Music is a critical medium in creating spaces for peace education and collaborative conversation, and is a universal language to move our consciences.
Inspired by the formative peacebuilding work of Argentine musician, Facundo Cabral, a UNESCO Messenger of Peace, two finalists will be flown out to Buenos Aires, Argentina to compete in front of a jury on August 28th, 2016 for the Facundo Cabral Award.
Deadline for song submission is July 22, 2016. Contestants must be 18 years or older. Songs must be between 3-5 minutes long. Voting is open to everyone!
