HEEGAN Relief and Development Organization (HERDO) is planning to open a Voluntary Counselling and Testing (VCT) center for the control and prevention of diseases and conditions throughout the Kahda district in Mogadishu, Somalia.
The VCT center is a practical tool for assessing and improving the quality of maternal health services. The process encourages self-assessment and joint problem-solving by service staff and supervisors. Maternal health refers to the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. While motherhood is often a positive and fulfilling experience, for too many women it is associated with suffering, ill-health and even death.
By means of a professional approach, HERDO’s purpose is to collect information about priority nutrition activities to strengthen the nutrition components of primary health care programs at the Kahda district level.
The Secretary General of the Somali Media for Environment, Science, Health and Agriculture (SOMESHA), Mr. Daud Abdi Daud, visited HERDO VCT center on Tuesday, January 03, 2017, in order to welcome and encourage HERDO leaders to continue their tireless efforts and ground work.
