What's one beautiful thing you wish the world knew about your religion or worldview?
On April 7, 2016, for Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC)'s national Better Together Day, hundreds of student organizers will bring thousands of their classmates and neighbors together to learn, teach, and engage with interfaith diversity. Campuses nationwide will hold interfaith conversations and events, work together to serve their community, and address our religious and philosophical differences.
This year, we're using Better Together Day to promote interfaith literacy. Despite America's religious diversity, many Americans know little or nothing about other religious and philosophical traditions. If we're going to disrupt conflict and build bridges across lines of difference, this has to change.
Better Together Day is driven by college and university students, but it's also a day for anyone who wants to share their values and learn something about other worldviews. Whether you identify with a particular religion or with no religion at all, it's time we understood each other a little better.
Here are two ways to get involved:
Share your values
This year, we're going bigger than ever by mobilizing the network to help us support the International Rescue Committee (IRC), an amazing organization providing aid to refugees around the world. If 5,000 people enter a submission to our website, IFYC will give $10,000 to help support IRC's incredible work. Submissions will be open next week, so keep an eye out.
Participate in our TweetChats
On March 17, we're kicking off Tweet Better Together, a series of weekly Tweet Chats where IFYC alumni discuss their worldviews as we lead up to Better Together Day. Every Thursday at 12pm CST we'll talk with a different IFYC alum to get real answers to common questions about our alumni's beliefs and give you a chance to ask questions of your own. Use #BetterTogetherDay every week to join the conversation.
