It was a huge honour and privilege to welcome our Sikh Brothers and Sisters to the Hindu Temple in Huddersfield, and to pay respect and sing prayers to our Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The procession leadership of Panj Piaras moved through the town amidst the renditions of devotional songs by the participating men, women and children. At the Hindu Temple, vegetarian food and drinks were served.
Baisakhi Festival has tremendous religious significance, as it was on a Baisakhi Day in 1699 that Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, laid the foundation of Panth Khalsa - The Order of the Pure Ones.
The Sikh teachings have emphasized such an important concept of the equality of brotherhood. They are founded on the principles of global Interfaith communities and mutual inter-community respect and harmony.
The unity and brotherhood in Huddersfield is exemplary. May this sense of community be a shining light to all.
