A two-day grand music festival to promote local talents was organized on the 23rd and 24th of June, 2017. More than 1,000 musicians performed during the two days of the festival, covering almost 12 hours a day. The event was inaugurated by the Chairman of ADDA (Development Authority of the District), followed by a guitar performance by Sri Deepak Roy, the senior-most musician at his 80s.
The youngest performer was 14 years of age. Nearly 500 audience and 25 staff members completed the event very successfully. It was covered by the media. Our URI Regional Coordinator, Mr. Biswadeb Chakraborty, moved people with his motivational speech and invited people to support the cause. He welcomed people to join the URI network to promote peace through music.
This event was mainly focused on promoting local younger talent in the field of music, and at the same time to strengthen the relationship through an effective platform of music. A local forum AALAP (mean introduction), mentored and fostered by URI, is giving stronger hope to us for a better future of art and culture.
While musicians were performing on the stage, a large screen of graphics displayed pictures of the URI interfaith family, and its network of peace and justice.
We were very thankful to the ADDA authority and local municipal corporation for their support. Our state minister from the area was honored by the URI Regional Coordinator. The Honorable Minister of Labor addressed the audience with his very short and sweet speech, which inspired all. URI East Zone India expressed their thanks to all the sponsors for their contributions, which made the event very successful.
