On October 21 and 22, 2017, the Baha’i community globally celebrated the “Twin Holy Days” associated with the birthdays of the two founders of their religion.
URI Europe congratulated the Baha’i community on this occasion and expressed its appreciation for the community’s dedicated and long-term involvement in interfaith peace work and for promoting unity in diversity, respect and peaceful relationships.
In Bonn, members of the URI Europe and URI Germany teams participated in the celebration of the 198. birthday of the Bab on Saturday as well as the 200. birthday of Baha’ullah on Sunday, which was attended by approximately 100 participants. As a sign of friendship and appreciation, the team presented to the Baha’i community a container with Earth from various European countries, a flask with Waters of the World as well as a framed poster of the Golden Rule – as symbols of the unity in diversity of humankind, positive cooperation and respect. The Waters of the World include waters from all the seven seas and all seven continents, and have been blessed at various global peace events, including the UN 50 celebrations, and summits of the United Religions Initiative (URI), as well as other global interfaith events, such as the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
The DMLBonn CC and URI Germany CC, as well as Intercultural Circle Bonn CC and URI Europe CC, were involved. The DMLBonn (Deutsche Muslim-Liga Bonn e.V.) is connected with the Baha’i community with bonds of friendship for more than three decades. The two communities organize regular interfaith film evenings together.
In the city of Trier, Germany, URI team members likewise participated in the celebrations.
