KHANEWAL - The BETHAK-organization celebrated World Interfaith Harmony Week to promote communication and trust among the believers of different religions for promotion of peace and harmony.
A large number of people from Christian, Muslim, Sikh, and Hindu communities participated in the Interfaith Peace evening. The programme started with the recitation of holy books of different religions. Shahzad Francis of BETHAK organization explained the objectives of the interfaith-peace evening as well as explaining the different forms of interfaith dialogue taking place in the country among people of different faiths.He further explained that the interfaith dialogue was a meeting of heart and mind among followers of different religions who are working together in harmony for a common cause of peaceful coexistence.

On the occasion, Mulana Afzal Abbas, Father Emmanuel Sharif, Padri Shamim Barkat, Sardar Ramish, and Davad Qamar spoke on different aspects of promotion of peace and harmony through interfaith dialogue, importance of diversity in religions, different cultures and ethnic groups and acceptance of each individual as a unique person.
They also stressed to the group of singers that they should come forward to assist BETHAK’s efforts for peace through their melodious voices and peace songs by turning hatred into love and acceptance of all as one people of God.
After this, local singers highlighted the cultural aspects of daily living through song performances. Ustad Hafeez Naqash, Yaqoob Sahotra, Babar Lahori, Qayyum Khan, Mumrez Nazir, Muhammad Rafiq Khan, Muhammad Abid Ali, Saleem Kashir, Ustad Yousaf Sohan, Reya Saleem, Rimsha Saleem, Fairy Gulshad, Saleem Kashir, Nayyar Patras, Yabal Masih,and Nadeem Najid entertained the audience with peace songs, folk songs, Peace Poetry and comedy performances.
Local high school and college students also participated in the interfaith peace evening and appreciated the efforts of BETHAK organization to promote acceptance for diversity among religions.
