World Interfaith Peace Ceremony
The World Interfaith Peace Prayer Ceremony was created by Deborah Moldow for URI’s first Summit at Stanford. Please feel free to adapt this ceremony as part of an IDP gathering.
Assign a person to represent each of the faith traditions listed below. Each should have a sign naming their tradition or showing a religious symbol for their tradition. All persons with signs (or banners) might be positioned on a stage or might create a procession. Each person comes forward one at a time, inserts their tradition in the sentence below, and says the sentence aloud. The audience joins in, “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” Discussion of different religions and their symbols might follow.
