"Of the Indigenous People of Argentina," a URI Cooperation Circle, shares a celebration of La Pachamama - the goddess honored by the original peoples that inhabit the Argentine Northeast, Bolivia and Peru.
Every August 1st, the Indigenous community celebrates the Day of the Pachamama, also known as Mama Pacha or Mother Earth. She is thought of as the mother who engenders life, nourishes, and protects it. In the photo above, Cooperation Circle members invite an interfaith community to share their celebration, allowing people from many cultures and faith backgrounds to learn about Indigenous customs. This forms bridges of understanding within the many communities that form Argentine culture.
