“Doing good to others is the one great universal religion.” - Swami Vivekananda
We know that World Interfaith Harmony Week (WIHW) is an annual event which has been observed since 2011 during the first week of February. As we do every year, Palki Peace Cooperation Circle (CC) has celebrated WIHW this year.
Our main focus was to enhance mutual understanding, harmony, and cooperation among different religious people. I always believe that it is very necessary to address local issues with real work that will help people and create a direct impact on society. It is to fulfil our desire to establish interfaith peace, and to promote brotherhood among all people, regardless of their faith.
During this auspicious week, Palki Peace CC celebrated World Interfaith Harmony Week with prayers and resolutions for peace. We lighted candles with a midday meal of hotchpotch, potato curry, chutney, and sweets for the destitute, irrespective of their caste, creed, color, or religion.
We are feeling blessed by being able to feed about 6,000 people. Though the celebration was a big deal, the preparation was started one day earlier. Our members and supporters took on an important community role to fulfil the goal to establish peace and interfaith cooperation. We feel very satisfied that, this year, we are able to distribute 150 blankets among the street children and destitute people of various religions.
World Interfaith Harmony Week always gives us an opportunity to fulfil our desires at the grassroots level with this noble work. The event was started at 10:30 AM and continued up to 5 PM (IST).
It is relevant to say that we have raised funds on our own to make this event successful. It is with all your blessings, support, and good wishes that every year Palki Peace CC is able to celebrate WIHW in such a huge manner.
