Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It articulates basic rights for all people.
Reminding ourselves of these rights is important; and, when we see with our hearts the cruelty inflicted by injustice and violence that is suffered by people who live without these rights, we feel deeply why the need for Human Rights binds humanity together in solidarity.

Look for people, and life in all its forms near you, rendered invisible, unimportant, living without having basic needs met. Let us act in solidarity, see a need and reach out, give attention and care. As it is stated in URI’s purpose, let us create cultures of peace, justice and healing for the Earth and living beings.
