The Bahá'í holy day of the Ascension of Bahá'u'lláh begins at sundown on May 27 this year. It commemorates the anniversary of the day that Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í faith, left this material world in 1892. The day is often observed with prayer and scripture reading. Many people voyage to Bahá'í shrines in his honor; this photo shows the Shrine of Bahá'u'lláh near Acre, where Baháʼu'lláh is buried.
