On behalf of URI -Africa, I want to wish you a joyful New Year.
May 2024 will be filled with gratitude, good health, peace, hope, healing, reconciliation, social justice, compassion, dignity for all, harmony, abundance of love and positivity. May the year ahead be a wonderful one for all living beings on Earth.
As we embark on this new year, may our shared commitment and action to build cultures of peace, justice, and healing serve as the foundation for a harmonious and prosperous future for all.
May this year be the year all of us, as citizens of the world, work together as a team to change the current trajectory to overcome all forms of violence, hate speech, poverty, terrorism, preventable diseases, wars, racism, discrimination and other unfortunate ills and events that continue to hinder humanity’s quest for peaceful coexistence and positive progress.
Let us thrive and implore ourselves to guard the dreams and aspirations of working together under the banner of URI to create a better world for all without leaving anyone behind. Let us double our efforts to advance the purpose of URI in the world.
May 2024 be a year in which we all be guided by the principle of the Golden Rule which says “ Treat others the way you want to be treated” and be the change we want to see in the world. May it also be a year for us to be the manifestation of the spirit of Ubuntu “ I am because you are”. The teaching of the Golden Rule and the spirit of Ubuntu is the answer to all the ills of humanity.
Let us be grateful to the creator of the Universe for the air we breathe, for the water we drink, for the beautiful nature around us, for the family, colleagues and friends we have. Let us start counting our blessings in life.
Let us have reverence and respect for all life on Earth

In this opportunity I also want to call for all member states of the United Nations in the world and for all of us, as citizens of the world, to uphold and implement “ the Universal Declaration of Human Rights”.
