From the period of November 2014 to date, with the generous support and guidance of the URI Youth Programme and URI Europe, Cooperation Circle (CC) founding members Lejla Hasandedic and Rosen Dimov met with different people in Antalya, Izmir, Bodrum, Istanbul and Ankara who were interested in extending the URI model of cooperation all across Turkey. The society is homogeneous and not open for “others.” They decided to set up a CC to work together to overcome prejudice and stereotypes. Their focus is on action –trying to cause changes through social events and other cross-cultural activities. They believe that actions will bring changes in people’s way of thinking and therefore overcome prejudices. One of the activities they focus on is social entrepreneurship. They also use sports, art and culture as tools for dialogue.
Lasting friendships among people from different cultures in Turkey
