The Center was created in the 1950s and was originally formed by Christians until 2000, when students at the university started being broader in faith- and non-faith identities themselves and looking to have a much broader knowledge of religions. The board followed the student lead and decided to become an interfaith center around 2013. Their upcoming programming includes: an International Day of Peace Celebration, featuring a talk by an Alaskan Native Elder, and a discussion around religion, peace, and the environment; a film screening and panel discussion of "Paris to Pittsburgh," in collaboration with Interfaith Power & Light; an interfaith retreat; an interfaith service project in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity; Keynote speakers, a Unity Walk and programming affiliated with World Interfaith Harmony Week and Better Together Days, and much more to come. Website - https://www.oxfordinterfaithcenter.org. The university is named after one of the local Indigenous tribes and there is a tribal relations center on campus. Members have had a hard time building trust and a relationship between the Tribal Relations Center and the Interfaith Center. This is something they are working on.
