Members of Mzuzu Cooperation Circle (CC) are very active in making a significant difference in their community, encouraging interfaith and working hard to improve lives in their area. Members plan activities and projects in inclusive ways that do not discriminate against social and economic status, and that pay special attention to protecting the environment for future generations. They gather youth—both girls and boys—in football teams. CC members see these teams as beneficial for youth not only for exercise but also in serving as a center for mentorship, helping youth realize their goals in sportsmanship and avoid engaging in drugs and early pregnancy. Thanks to the Malawi-Scotland Partnership, this CC managed to send three of their coaches to Kwendeni for training by a team of Scots from Queenspark. Mzuzu CC also has a partnership with a business group in town—dealing with savings and loans—used to help mobilize women by helping them understand how they can operate small enterprises to achieve sustainability. CC members hold regular solution-based conversations and assist these women with advice and business planning.
