Unique Centre for Peacebuilding and Trauma Healing (UCPT) is based in Jos, Nigeria. It is a non-governmental organization, registered with the Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission. UCPT is an emerging organization that is unique in dealing with peacebuilding and trauma healing issues. UCPT has done a lot in the area of peacebuilding with vulnerable groups and trauma survivors in Nigeria. As an organization, UCPT has a five-year program tagged “TRAUMA FOR PEACE” and members have worked on different projects like: Interfaith Relations, Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP), Trauma Healing for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and Security Personnel’s, Forgiveness and Reconciliation, as well as Hate Speech and Social Media. They have also trained facilitators on trauma healing alternatives to violence project: Do No Harm, Early Warning and Early Response, Peace Clubs, Peace Education, Dialogue and Mediation, Peace and Security, human right and advocacy, and ending violence against children.
UCPT partners with other organizations to achieve its purpose
The Organization is by its membership and focus, an interfaith group working to promote peace in Nigeria through interreligious dialogue, understanding and harmony. The Organization engages Muslim, Christians, and other faith traditions in Nigeria because of its understanding that most conflicts in Nigeria are centered on the issues of religions. Some other important activities implemented by Unique Centre for Peacebuilding and Trauma Healing include, but not limited to, dialogue and mediation, interfaith relations, psycho-social first aid and provision of relief materials to victims of violent conflicts, etc.
