Varicodu Mythri group was formed by involving several professionals from the area, mainly educationalists, to promote community development activities. The group has been organizing humanitarian response activities after the floods in 2018 in and around their area, which was very badly affected due to the proximity of the Pamaba River. The group has started a library that provides tuitions to the students of economically marginalized families. During the COVID – 19 pandemics, they have also been active in community welfare activities. They are proud of their career guidance program. They were able to distribute learning kits (mobile phones, T.V.) and books for school students. They are proud of having initiated the “Muttathoru Poonthottam” program as a part of World Environment Day in 15 houses. They would like to take their members outside their safe zones and broaden their minds by engaging and meeting other communities to understand diversities and cultures. This will help make them aware of the poorer society in India and how people live their lives. URI in India is a mosaic of cultures and religions and we intend to learn from them.
