This Cooperation Circle (CC), based in Nigeria’s Bauchi State, is a non-profit organization working to promote quality health care, environmental education and management, leadership development, and youth interfaith communication and integration. Founded in 2008 as a youth group, the organization has supported grassroots organizations and school groups in identifying, analyzing and setting priorities for participatory actions.

Creating safe spaces for dialogue

Youth interfaith seminar and tree planting in secondary schools in Bauchi State

Forward Action for Conservation of Indigenous Species conducted a seminar on youth interfaith dialogue and tree splanting for the protection of environment. This was part of FACIS's 2014 work plan. 5000 thousand youth in Bauchi state will be train in climate change mitigation and adaptation measures this year. This will be conducted simultaniously with peace dialogues, intereactive sessions with religious/community leaders.

FACIS CC, in collaboration with Climate And Sustainable Development Network of Nigeria, concluded the seminar: "Religion, Climate Change and the Future of our Planet" in Bauchi State, Nigeria.

In the world of today collaboration and partership is becoming more inportant in the eyes of development workers. This became evident and indeed neccessary especially in the 21st century where experience sharing became a strategy for result-oriented activities.

FACIS joined other CC's in comomerating the World Golden Rule Day in Bauchi State, Northern Nigeria

The Golden Rule Day event was conducted on Saturday April 5^th in the famous palace of the district head of Lere, in Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State.

Tafawa Balewa local government area was chosen to be the venue of this year’s commemoration because of the intermittent crisis that keeps occurring for 2 decades. The intermittent crisis created a huge vacuum of misunderstanding and religious disharmony between the Muslims and Christians. This led to having a divided community of Christians and Muslims in Tafwa Balewa LGA. Muslims are now afraid to go to Christian dominated areas and vice versa.

The Local Government Area (LGA) is one the 20 Local Government Areas in Bauchi State and is known to have an estimated population of 278, 674. The people in the area speak seven (7) different languages and comprises of Christians or Muslims.

FACIS: Empowers Girl Child in schools and communities

FACIS yesterday in its on-going support to empower girl child visited Government Girls Unity College, in Bauchi metropolis where it supported the GGUC Environmental club for its annual work plan development.

More than 30 Christian and Muslim youth in Nigeria participate in FACIS CC workshop

A One-Day Training on Listening and Negotiations Skills was conducted on 4^th January in Bauchi State in North Eastern Nigeria. Thirty-five Christian and Muslim Youth participants were drawn from 14 different communities of the Yelwan Tudu area. Two Resource Persons, Dr. Emmanuel Ande Ivorgba, URI West Africa Laiason Officer and Executive Director, New Era Educational and Charitable Support Foundation, and Mallam Usman Mohammed Inuwa, Founder/Coordinator of FACIS, facilitated the training, held at RAHAMA Women Development Program Conference Hall in Bauchi Metropolis.

SEEDS FOR PEACE SEMINAR HELD IN BAUCHI CITY NORTHERN NIGERIA

Since 1991 Bauchi continues experiencing ethno-religious crises with hundreds of people massacred and many churches, mosques, and family homes burned down. All major ethno-religious crises in Bauchi State emanate from the two local government areas, Bogoro and Tafawa Balewa, in the extreme south of Bauchi. Both Local Government Areas (LGAs) share boundaries with Jos, Plateau State, which is yet another flash point of unrest and brutality in Nigeria.

The Seeds for Peace Seminar was meant to (1) bring citizens of different religions, tribes, and cultures in tensed areas, to sit at the same table for learning to listen to one another, share their stories, and discover that “an enemy is one whose story we have not heard.” And the women and men were to (2) serve as the beginning of the new movement in GROW BIO-INTENSIVE Agriculture which will ultimately help people to have organic (healthful) food on
