The United Religions Initiative is pleased to announce the appointment Dr. Potre Dirampatan - Diampuan, as Regional Coordinator for the South East Asia and the Pacific region.
Emerging as a top choice during the URI SEA-Pac search process, Potre was unanimously selected by members of the SEA-Pac Search Committee. She is eager to expand and deepen her commitment to interfaith bridge-building in her position as Regional Coordinator for the region. She speaks of her commitment to consultative leadership, strategic thinking, transparent communication and upholding URI values. She holds a confident and bright vision that grassroots interfaith cooperation can bring positive change and she looks forward to working with leadership in the SEA-Pac region in building a vibrant future. She will work in Metro-Manila.
Potre has been serving as a consultant with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos on Peace Programs and Other Special Concerns from 2010 until January of 2012. She has also served as an educational consultant in her hometown, including the Office of the Mayor of Marawi. Recently she has also served as the Lead Consultant for "Making of the Terms of Reference for the Review to Enhance Muslim Education Initiatives of the Dept. of Education in the Philippines.
Ms. Potre holds a PhD in Education Management from Mindanao State University, and has rich experience in youth mentorship and community development, and is an active peacebuilder in the Philippines.
In 2005, she was a Fellow of the British Councli Seminars at the University of Durham, UK. She joined the 2011 Philippine Delegation to the 55th Session on the UN Commission on the Status of Women at UN headquarters in New York. In October 2011, she read a paper on "Dialogue About and Between Faiths in Migrant Communities: Engagement Beyond Tolerance" at the 7th Asia-Europe Meeting - Interfaith Dialogue (ASEM-IFD7) hosted by the Philippine government in Manila.
Ms. Potre is eager to expand and deepen her commitment to interfaith bridgebuilding in her position as Regional Coordinator for the Southeast Asia and the Pacific Region. With a firm belief that "peace is indeed possible," she looks forward to working with leadership in the SEA-Pac region.
