The “Volunteers as Agents for Peace” training, which took place in Vienna, Austria, brought together 50 participants from Europe, Asia, and the Middle East & North Africa. URI Regional Coordinator Mamoun Ahmad attended the training, which was aimed at fostering the role of peacebuilding organizations, youth workers, and voluntary organizations in promoting and building peace as well as combating hate speech. The training tackled different approaches in preparing, mentoring and evaluating voluntary projects in order to support volunteers to act as peace agents. These types of experiences help URI staff act as more effective peacebuilders in their communities.
