A Call to Prayer for Women and Healing
International Women’s Day - March 8, 2020
The United Religions Initiative (URI), with multifaith Cooperation Circles all over the world, calls upon people to gather in prayer on March 8, International Women's Day.
Coronavirus has raised the specter of fear across the planet and caused the United Nations to cancel its 64th global gathering of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW). As we recognize the disappointment of so many people involved with CSW, we especially think of the untold stories and accomplishments that will not be shared at the UN this March. Let us take this opportunity to realize how we are all interconnected and that what touches one, touches us all.
We know that love is stronger than fear!
We call on people from all regions to co-create a counter-virus of love from deep in our hearts. Your prayers are needed on Sunday, March 8 as we ask for healing for all who are affected by the virus and the fears being generated.
In recognition of International Women’s Day, we will also pray to uplift women and children everywhere who are suffering from the scourge of hunger, illness, poverty and violence and those many strong women that are working hard to build more fair and peaceful societies.
We know that love is stronger than fear!
In the spirit of interfaith harmony, please pray for healing and to celebrate women, unity and peace! You are invited to pray individually, in groups and to join this special Global Zoom Call.
