Sunflower Film Organization (SFO) has been officially registered at the Ministry of Interior as a non-profit organization since 13 March 2019, according to the notice 1398 Pr.K. Its affiliate youth collective, Sunflower Film Alliance (SFA) gathers volunteer members, across Cambodia, with film interest and skills, aged between 15 and 40. SFA is mandated to annually renew membership and leadership for greater youth empowerment. SFA itself has produced, since late 2017, “Family and You” omnibus series (2017), “Kon Khnhom” TV show with TVK and a few short films, like “akumu project” and others. It pursues the annual flagship festival and trains young filmmakers to produce their debuts for the showcase within the ensuing CSFF. SFO, in turn, has implemented since 2019, among others, Let’s Document Cambodia, to equip provincial and indigenous youths in documenting their communities. Both SFO and SFA share the ambition to build a more robust film industry in Cambodia, by adding values to its provincial allies with further technical film training. Monetization will be an essential part of the next activities as to support the alliance’s operations and and provide more resources and growth opportunities to its members, affiliates and young filmmakers in general.
