URI Story Spotlight

Last Sunday, Bishop William Swing, Founding Trustee and President Emeritus, delivered a sermon at Grace Cathedral, in San Francisco.

In his words: "Next week, we will elect a president of the United States. Among the myriad responsibilities that go with the office, none is of greater magnitude than the use of nuclear weapons."

Between August and September 2021, the URI AL&C Online Youth Training organized by the URI Global Program for the participation of youth was developed with the intervention of 15 young people from the CCs: Aflaiai, Constructores de Puentes, Teusaquillo, Mukua, Quinaroes , COEMATI, The Descendants of Guatemaya, Samay, ACRE from the countries: Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama and Venezuela.

URI remains alarmed by the escalation of violence between Israel and Hamas & expresses grave concern for the civilians on the ground.

Freedom Riders - Stepping Up

Last night I witnessed a burst of historic heroic citizenship in the USA when I watched a PBS special program called The Freedom Riders. In 1961 racism was ugly, mean, unjust, and embedded in American society. Southern states enforced Jim Crow legislation and local police enforced segregated sitting rooms in bus and railroad stations in cities across the South.

Intra-faith Gathering

Children of the Earth invites you to attend a one day International Intra-faith Gathering. Through the gathering, we hope to bring together youth from various backgrounds and faiths to be able to open up, share and learn with other participants through group interaction, guest speakers, a meditation class, games, a documentary film showing, and much more. Dr. Kul Chandra Gautam, former Assistant Secretary General of the UN and Deputy Executive Director of UNICEF will be the guest speaker.
